Barbara has a Master's Degree in Health and Gerontology, and developed the famed assisted living complex Park Plaza Retirement Residences (99 units) in Orange, California and The Shorewood (73 units) on the Oregon Coast. In a joint project with the county of Los Angeles, she developed apartments and built the only senior center on Catalina Island.
Barbara is also the President and Director of Cameo Continuing Education, a state-vendored school. Cameo provides administrator certification and continuing education classes to license and operate Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RFCE). These classes are required of all administrators of assisted living and the more intimate "board & care" homes for the elderly.
Stacey holds a Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential in Health from the University of Oregon, and has taught secondary school for six years. She has been with Helena House and Cameo for over five years and has successfully completed the State of California Administrator's Certification Program.
Have you opened a new location, redesigned your shop, or added a new product or service? Don't keep it to yourself, let folks know. Each home has a dedicated House Manager/Administrator and highly trained staff so residents become accustomed to interacting with the same people on a daily basis. This also helps our caregivers know our residents’ likes and dislikes and provide a more personalized level of care. Each home is staffed with at least one caregiver for every three residents.
We have activities coordinators that come to all of our homes and spend time with our residents each weekday afternoon. They engage the residents in music, games, and group activities that provide mental and emotional stimulation
